Brighton & Hove Albion have been eliminated from the Europa League after their 4-1 aggregate defeat to Roma.

Danny Welbeck gave Brighton hope with a curling effort in the 37th minute putting his side 1-0 up at the Amex.

However, Brighton were unable to overturn the deficit from their 4-0 defeat in the first leg in Rome and were knocked out of the competition in the round of 16.

West Ham defeated Freiburg 5-0 at the London Stadium, 5-1 on aggregate. Liverpool beat Sparta Prague 6-1 at Anfield, with an aggregate score of 11-2 over the two legs.

The draw for the quarter-finals will take place on Friday, March 15 at 12pm GMT/8am ET/5am PT.

Aston Villa secured their progression to the Europa Conference League quarter-finals with a 4-0 victory over Ajax at Villa Park.

Brighton are next in action against Liverpool on March 31.
